Georgia Mouse was one of the many very poor field mice that lived just outside of the Pumpkin Patch. Georgia only had one dress for school and all the Pumpkin Patch mice made fun of her and would not play with her because she was a poor field mouse. Georgia did have one friend from the Pumpkin Patch, AirMouse. AriMouse didn't call her names and always defended her when the other mice gave her a hard time.
Georgia Mouse was cute, smart, and had a great sense of humor. All good reasons for other mice to want to be her friend. But, Georgia just knew if she had a brand new, pretty dress, she would have lots of friends. So Georgia Mouse asked Santa for a new dress for Christmas.
Georgia Mouse was the happiest mouse in the fields Christmas morning, for on the floor of her dirt hut were loads of presents. Georgia could not believe her eyes. Ripping into the gifts, Georgia Mouse found the dress she had asked Santa for and it was beautiful. Now, she had a beautiful dress with no patches to wear to school and now she would have lots of friends.
Sure enough, when the Pumpkin Patch mice saw Georgia in her wonderful new dress, they all wanted to be her friend. But Georgia Mouse was not happy and she could not figure out why. She had lots of friend now....so why was she feeling so sad.
Finally, AriMouse asked her what would happen if she wore her ragged, patched dress to school tomorrow? Then Georgia Mouse knew what was wrong. Who wanted friends that only wanted to be her friend because of how she looked on the outside! What about the inside. None of these new friends ever stopped to find out how smart, funny, and really nice that Geogia Mouse had always been....Only her true friend, AriMouse.
Then Georgia Mouse realized just how rich she really is, because she had a friend like AriMouse. A friend who looked inside Georgia Mouse. It didn't matter where she lived...JUST HOW SHE LIVED.
